Start with a short history
Explain what changed, when it started and whether the signs are constant. Earlier reports, supplier letters and photos you already have can help. You do not need to collect pressure readings, run a meter test or choose the equipment before making an enquiry.
Make access practical
Arrange a person to admit the engineer and approve the agreed work. Clear personal items from accessible service cupboards where safe. Mention restricted parking, locked gates, communal doors and occupants who need advance notice. If the suspected source is in another flat, coordinate permission before the visit.
Ask before changing system conditions
Heating or water supplies may need particular conditions for useful tests. Follow the appointment instructions rather than draining, dismantling or opening anything in preparation. If immediate safety concerns arise, seek urgent help instead of waiting for the investigation.
