Write down the sequence
Record which work was done and when the first symptoms appeared. Keep any installation photographs, drawings and earlier reports already available. An accurate timeline helps more than an assumption that the newest fitting must be responsible.
Explain changes to the systems
An extension, new kitchen or heating alteration may have changed the pipe route or introduced additional circuits. Tell the engineer which rooms and systems were affected by the project.
Keep investigation and dispute resolution distinct
The appointment assesses the plumbing evidence and the agreed repair. It is not a determination of contractual liability or a general inspection of another contractor’s work. Wider disputes need their own appropriate process.
